    This was my second time here and again, the experience was just meh. The food is adequate, the service is slow, and the restaurant is pretty tidy. The one thing I like about Thai Bistro though is that they have a section in the menu dedicated to vegetarians, which is very nice and convenient. I ended up going with the Vegetable Curry this time around and it was okay. The baby corn was a no-go though -- super sour and tough to chew, yuck.

    Atmosphere is welcoming, clean and neat. The staff are always smiling and ready to seat you when arriving. When waiting for a pick up order they will seat you at the bar. When not busy they will converse with you and offer water. Much appreciated. I've never had a bad dish here. The duck is amazing A must go to restaurant :)

    Thai Bistro bears the distinction of being the most wonderful and original Thai restaurant that I have visited in a while. It was actually Yelp that brought me here; many of the nearby restaurants had only three stars, so I chose this one instead. I even sat in my car until their opening time at 11:00 AM. I was in Federal Way one morning and had to find out what this restaurant was like. They were quite prompt in bringing me the lunch special menu, which shouldn't come as a surprise considering how I was one of their first customers that day. This lunch special menu had seven items, five of them with accompanying pictures. There were no generic items like Pad Thai or swimming rama; most of the items here were unexpected. I took that to be a good sign hinting toward authenticity. I left the table briefly to use the bathroom, and it was clean and well-maintained. When I got back, they already had a bowl of soup waiting there for me. It was just a plain pork and tofu soup in a tiny bowl, but the rest of the meal turned out much better. I ordered the Kao Soy (curry noodle soup) for $10.95 that arrived at my table within twelve minutes. I'm impressed with the speed of delivery because of the effort that probably had to go into making this. Kao Soy is an expertly crafted dish that I will need to try again. It consisted of egg noodles and chicken within the most delicious coconut curry and a ton of garnish. The curry was so runny that it basically served as a soup for the noodles, and I loved this idea. The whole thing was so good, but I left without consuming all the curry as it was quite filling. More importantly, this restaurant was something new to me for a change and I would have to come back if I ever found myself in this area.

    I come here atleast twice a month. I've tried other thai places from seattle to tacoma but this is the best. The experience of dining in is very authentic, awesome decorations. The customer service is outstanding. Best of all the food is the best! it tastes awesome and you definitely get your moneys worth since the portions are HUGE!. I've maybe had 1 bad experience but haven't seen the employee since, but nothing to give the business a bad review over. Writing this is making me hungry so i may as well get take out from here tonight!

    Fresh rolls with peanut sauce is delicious! Their chicken pad Thai was "ok". It tasted bland to us.. The cream cheese crab cakes is to die for! So good! The best on the menu is the lemongrass chicken! Nice servers and pleasant atmosphere. Will come back again.

    I grew up in this town and after 10 years in Southeast Asia, owning a business in Phuket, I'd rate myself pretty adept at Thai Cuisine, for an American. I have eaten here on a number of occasions, proximity to Costco helps, and have always have above average food and service. I rate this place a 1 star due to the way I was treated after having to send my food back more than once , for not getting the dish right and not even hot. The Staff was beyond Rude and unprofessional. I asked to speak to the Manager or Owner, Sang and was told he wasn't available then when I called later he answered then hung up. I tried to give this place a opportunity to make it right, but they weren't interested. I will not visit this place again and I'll tell others as such.

    I'm not sure why I resisted this place for so long, especially since it's less than half a mile from our house. Maybe because I thought it was a much bigger chain restaurant than it actually is. I don't know... I must have been insane. Whether we eat in or take out, Thai Bistro is the best. I was never a big fan of Pad Thai, but after having theirs, our orders have always been "Pad Thai and another item". Lately that other item has been their Lemongrass Chicken (with brown rice... always get the brown rice). To. Die. For. Everything we've had on our many visits has been outstanding. My only MINOR complaint would be the parking. That parking lot is hellish, especially on the weekends. I know the restaurant has no control over that, so it's basically just a warning.

    I've always left Thai Bistro 100% satisfied. I endlessly crave their pad Thai, I actually daydream about it. I'm greeted as soon as I walk in, seated fairly quickly and my order is put in right away since I really only come in for pad Thai. The customer service is friendly, but not too friendly where the server chats with you for unnecessarily long. Friendly enough to have my order placed, fill my cup with clean water and to give me a genuine smile. My food comes in good time, always made fresh, which I love. The portions for the prices listed are great! I can never finish my plate of pad Thai, so I take the rest home and I've got a nice little lunch for the next day! Overall rating: 9/10

    My girlfriend had never had Thai food before, so this was a new experience for her. The restaurant had a very nice interior and was really busy (Friday evening crowd). The hostess took names down on a piece of paper and was pretty quick in getting us (four adults plus toddler) seated. She was a little soft spoken, so some of those in front of us had a hard time hearing their names called. Old-fashioned, but it worked. Our waiter informed us that he had to bring us the small glasses because they were still washing the big glasses. Not sure I had ever had that happen before, but it was odd. It was nice he let us know. We ordered the calamari appetizer which came promptly and was very good. Our meals arrived at different times instead of all at once, which was just slightly annoying since not everyone at the table liked spicy food and had ordered mild. The girlfriend ordered Lemon Grass Chicken and loved it. She asked if we could go back, so I knew that was a good sign. I ordered the Emerald Seafood, which was good, but not something to rave about. Our friends enjoyed their meals as well. I am curious how this place is when it's not busy. Overall, it's a good place to eat and the staff is definitely very good, so the staff made up for any aggravations.

    I have had Thai all over Puget sound and I'd have to say that this and Banyan Tree in Kent are two of the best, Royal Orchid is good also. Every time I've been here it's been excellent so it's consistently good. Try you won't be disappointed.

    Having tried many Thai places in my time, I must say this place is the absolute best. From the amazingly ornate archway above your head when you enter the restaurant, to the delicious curries served in wooden handled saucepans, I was delighted at every turn. Melissa was awesome, and offered me a glass of delicious Thai Tea as soon as I sat down! I absolutely recommend it for anyone craving a taste of Thai.

    My hubby took me here to surprise me with a much needed date. First of all let me say that I love the atmosphere. The decor is inviting. The lighting is low and gives it that "romantic feeling". The service was wonderful. Our server was attentive and helpful. We ordered oolong tea! They brought it out in a cast iron tea kettle! My husband ordered the Pad Thai. He said it was the best he's had. He loves it spicy and it was perfect. I ordered something similar with pineapple and crab. Oh my gosh it was so delicious. And I'm not normally a big fan of Thai food. We will definitely be back!

    Love this place! Can't go wrong with the lunch combination for $9. You get the soup of the day and one of the combo choices that comes with rice and pad Thai. Yum! Dinner can get spendy, around $15 per plate if you want to try multiple things it can get expensive. Plus they have tasty Thai iced tea. Definitely a good stop in Federal way since there aren't many choices around.

    Don't get take out without taking the time to open it in front of them and check your order. We ordered one thing and got completely different orders. Plus, they didn't label the gluten free item for my husband so we couldn't tell what was safe for him to eat. Second time this has happened. Eating at the place is fine. Veggie options, can make gluten free dishes if necessary.

    I used to eat here 3X per month. I always order the same thing. I love the food and came in today to cheer myself up after a rough day. The last time I was in I ordered food and added a side dish that was quoted at $5 additional added into my meal. Today I let the server know what I had ordered the week before and she asked her manager about adding the side. She came back and informed me my side was now $10 rather than $5, due to the market. I happen to know this is incorrect because I have a friend who works in the industry. So I declined the side due to the 50% increase that was made up out of thin air for my side dish.Then I asked for a side of fried rice for my dish rather than steamed. Instead of letting me know "ok, here is what I CAN DO....." I was told I'd have to pay full entree price which equated out to $14.99 to which I also declined. How hard is it to satisfy your customer and add a scoop of fried rice rather than steamed? Up charge me, but not a full entrees worth when I'm not eating a full entrees worth. When our hot drinks came they were Luke warm, and this is the 4th time at this restaurant we had to send back a drink to be heated up. When it is supposed to be served hot you should have a set time/thermometer to heat it with instead of being informed by multiple customers that it's Luke warm and never adapting to your customers. You would think management would have implemented: "hey everyone, our hot drinks are Luke warm. From now on heat it to _______ seconds....or how about _____ on a thermometer." Then the food came. My food was Luke warm and had a vegetable in it that had never been in it the previous times I ordered. I cannot eat this vegetable because I'm allergic. I also told our server the food was not hot, it was Luke warm again. I had to send my plate back. She asked what vegetable I would like to substitute. I let her know. When they brought my plate back it was spicier than before (I only ordered 1 star because the first was too spicy) this time the vegetable was not fully cooked. I gave up. I let the waitress know I'm not eating my meal here, and I'm very disappointed in the food. I could hear her (because the kitchen is virtually on the customer floor) talking about us to her manager and cooks. They were talking bad about us when we were sitting right there. I was half expecting the owner or manager to come talk to us and make it right. Not once did someone come and apologize. My significant other was so upset witnessing this happen he could not eat his meal. He ended up boxing our food, and rather than taking our plate to the back and boxing it, he asked for the box to be brought to our table for fear of his food being spit in at this point. We could hear our waitress in the background, "now they want me to bring the box to them and won't let me box up their food..." After all this, I have to say our waitress was very nice. It was NOT her fault their cooks don't give a sh*$ about making a meal right the second time around, or preparing it correctly the first time. My BF even had to be the one to apologize and say we were sorry and it was not her fault. We told her that we come in three times per month and spend a lot of money and it is our go to spot to eat in this area. We even told her we are considering not returning due to the service that we received tonight. But still no manager came to our table to even attempt to talk to us or make it right. Even after having this conversation with our server at the end of our night, we could still hear her talking to her cooks and letting them know "we said we were sorry" and she was clearly trying to defend to the others that worked there why we were upset. We could literally hear them talking about us. This is the most unprofessional dining experience I have ever received. I mean, I understand people are going to talk about their customers, but for goodness sake why would you say this loud enough for the restaurant to hear and talk about on the dining floor? At least take it in the back. I am so disappointed. This was one of my favorite places to eat. I guess we were just another number to the managers that worked here because no one tried to even attempt to make it right with us. They just talked sh*$ about us when we were sitting right there. I don't ask a lot. Warm food cooked correctly is not a lot to ask when diners pay good money to eat at a restaurant, and if it was not for your diners, you would be out of business. It looks like it's their loss considering they'll be losing thousands of dollars by not having us as a customer over the course of a year, which will eventually turn into more loss of revenue as other diners experience what we did. I would not advise supporting a business who is so thoughtless towards customers. To me, that is half the dining experience. Good service and food. Clearly I am not the only person to notice this because there are several other reviews that expressed the same concerns

    It actually makes me sad to write this post because I used to be such a fan of this restaurant... but this place is flat out going down hill. We used to come to Thai Bistro every monday for months as our weeknight out for dinner, but the last 6 or 7 times have been so bad. The first few times that we had a bad experience, we thought we had just hit it on an off night... not the case at all. My major complaint is the staff. The staff use to be very courteous and attentive to your needs (especially water since Thai food can be spicy and running out of water sucks), but this last time it took over 15 minutes for the waitress to even come and offer us drinks (by this time we just ordered drinks, appetizers and or meals to save time). We ordered the crab wontons which are usually very good, but this time they where ice cold in the center. Then to top it off the was an enormous hair in the curry (they did refund us for that curry dish, but the appetite was already gone). The drink we ordered at the same time we ordered our meal didn't come until after the meal had been served. Bottom line, they REALLY need to step it up. At this point we wont return for awhile. If/when we do I can only hope they have stepped up their game.

    Staff is very friendly. They are great about getting you seated promptly and are always very polite. The won ton soup with 3 stars of hotness, is like heaven to my heart. It's the perfect broth and just tastes so good. The spring rolls are also super good. My son likes to get the golden duck, which is also really good. Love this place!

    Food was good. Appetizers were ok but the entrees were delicious. The cream cheese won ton and the spring roll were room temp inside. The Vegetables were crunchy. Jasmine tea was very strong. The phad sei euw was good. Service was good and food came out quickly.

    I love their calamari! It's the best, I won't go anywhere else for calamari. My favorite main dish is the prawns & chicken pad thai 2 stars spicy. My favorite drink is the Chai iced tea, cold. Pricing is decent, food portions are decent. The interior decor is relaxing. I love the booths, their nice & private. The restaurant is clean, neat & well kept - sanitary to me. Definitely recommend. I live in a bit far now & will still drive to federal way for my calamari & pad thai :)

    Be patient , they will come eventually. Their foods is good, but its more of a bland taste.. if you know what I mean. I noticed a lot of elderly people go here so I understand the taste.. Its not too salty nor sweet. which is good because you don't want a lot of sugar or sodium inside you so its a great place if you want stay on the low of any "high". The surrounding makes everything feel more authentic because, its like you just walked into a room that transported you to Thailand. Its a really beautiful restaurant.

    Had an early dinner and decided to try this place out. Cute decor and fairly attentive servers. Pros: 1. Kids menu options, 2. Portions are good for sharing 3. Lots of flavorful salad options 4. Mom & Pop operated 5. Thai iced tea 6. Ample parking Generally good experience, but a few things make it less than perfect rating: 1. Chipped dishes 2. Chef salad was a lil heavy on dressing *dressing was delicious but will ask for light dressing or dressing on the side next time * 3. Didn't get all of our leftovers boxed up *had tom ka gai that was 1/2 eaten that never made it home :'( 4. No spice option available on the chef salad. 5. Only two spices/sauces on their spice rack

    I walked in first and before my husband could even catch up to me the waitress was walking away with the menus to try and seat me. After we sat down my husband got up to use the restroom and while he was away the waitress tried to take my order three times. We ordered pad thai with no bean sprouts and it came out with bean sprouts. When we mentioned it to her she was not apologetic but just said ok and shrugged her shoulders. We finished our other dish before we could get the pad thai and asked for it to go. She placed the pad thai plate in one arm and the other empty plate on top of half the food!! We asked for a manger and he walked out and just crawled back into his office. We ended up just talking to another waitress about the sanitary issues. The original waitress brought back our change one dollar short and no receipt.

    Ordered pad Thai with prawns, and received pad Thai with CHICKEN....complained to our waitress and she said do you want the chicken?....I said NO I ordered pad Thai with prawns, she said I would have to wait a while, and I ask what is a while she said about 10 minutes, while I waited and watch my husband eat his entire dinner .....I did FINALLY receive my pad Thai with prawns...it was pretty good and a large amount! I only ate a little bit when our our waitress picked up my husband's "cleaned plate" and then asked me if I wanted my dinner boxed....I said yes (I just wanted to get out of this place) when she returned with my meal (in a box), it was in a SMALL box, I feel she filled it, and didn't feel like filling a second box, but then threw away the rest of my meal...not happy...and won't be back. (this use to be a very good restaurant, and one of my favorites, but I believe it changed ownership in the last few years.... last time there before tonight, I ask for a half star, aahhhh NOT SPICY!!!.....it was so hot and spicy I just left it, could NOT eat it and the waitress ask if there was something wrong, I said it was so so hot and my stomach does not allow me to eat really spicy food, she checked with the cook and he said I ordered 5 stars, she said he did not see she wrote was .5 stars (half a star) ......waited that visit for my order made AGAIN for HALF A STAR to go.

    I've been to Thai Bistro several times and always had a good experience minus it being a little pricey. I went there tonight with my boyfriend and split 2 entrees and my boyfriend found glass in his bite of the sweet chili chicken entree. It pretty much ruined our dining experience and all they did was remove the entree from our bill, no discount off the rest of the bill. I will not be going back!

    The food was great, a tad pricey for lunch. We ordered Pad See Mao (fried wide noodle, your choice protein/veg, with mixed vegetable, basil and chili paste) and one of the lunch combos. All entrees, including specials were 8.95 and higher. Chicken satay was 8.95, and we got 4 skewers. We wished the menu or server would have told us that complimentary thai lemongrass soup came with the meal, we didn't need the appetizer. Service was slow. We waited for chop stix and chili paste for 5 min then decided just to eat without it b/c we weren't checked on and didn't want cold food. If the service improved it would be a 4-star, but I want to be waited on a bit more.

    This is one of my favorite restaurants! The service is just amazing. My boyfriend and I go here quite often, and the servers recognize us, which is always a nice touch :) The food is delicious. Some of our favorites are: the fresh spring rolls and peanut sauce, phad thai, pad see ew, chicken satay, thai basil, panang curry, and tom ka soup. YUM. They have great lunch specials too! We've gone here twice in the last week. Maybe we'll go again this weekend before our New Year's diet start haha

    This is my favorite Thai Restaurant and the food is always great along with the friendly service but they don't seem to understand planning on the food delivery. We were there tonight and I had one of my favorites - Tom Yum soup along with the new appetizer - crab and cream cheese. We also ordered basic with the Cashew Chicken and Pork Pad Thai. All the food was great, tasty and a fair serving size. The problem is (and I should have anticipated since it happened before), if you order the appetizer along with the dinner - guess what - you get it all together and then the meal gets cold. This is a frustration of mine - isn't the definition of appetizer: a food or drink that stimulates the appetite and is usually served before a meal. The restaurant is cozy and to some extent (for Federal Way) romantic. I love the décor and do recommend it - although always order the appetizer and then when it comes, the dinner. LOL

    Horrible service. We waited 45 minutes and had to ask for a server to take our order. It wasn't very busy either. The waiter had the personality of a rock. He took our order and never came back. When the food finally arrived, they dumped curry on one of the people at our table... Most disappointing, the chicken tasted like it had been rewarmed. We hadn't planned on spending 2 hours here. Definitely will not go back.

    This used to be one of my go-to Thai places in the area until I discovered my all time favorite one in Puyallup. The service is fine, and the decor is cute and interesting once inside. It's in a busy area (there's an LA Fitness and several other busy places), so parking can sometimes be a hassle if you want to get something close. When I go, I usually enjoy their crab cream cheese wontons, som tum (papaya salad), and crispy garlic dish with prawns. It's hard to go wrong with either of those, although, their prices aren't some of the best I've seen.

    Came here for a quick bite to eat in-between meetings for work and was pleasantly surprised with the lunch I had, ordered off the daily special - hot pot ginger curry rice. The portion was generous and it had great flavors. The only reason I'm withholding a star is the soup that I was served before my main dish was so-so... not terrible, but definitely disappointing compared to the curry rice. Because I came during lunchtime, the restaurant was quite busy, but service was good and the staff very polite. I'll be back in the future to sample more...

We drive 30 minutes and pass multiple Thai restaurants to enjoy a meal here. Favorites include Panang Curry, Showering Rama, Lemongrass Chicken and Pineapple Fried Rice.

    Love, love, love their sweet chili chicken. It's crispy and salty and a little sweet and hugely addictive; definitely one of the best thai dishes I've ever had. Pad see ew is good too. In fact we've never had anything bad, but the sweet chili chicken is by far the standout item on the menu. The restaurant decor is very nice and the service is always great; very polite and sweet wait staff. Prices are decent. I'd go here every week if I could.

    I was so excited to have Thai food after being deprived for a while. Boy was I disappointed. My dish tasted cheap and not very flavorful. This was nothing like what I expected. My fiancée's dinner was ok but still nothing to write home about. The décor is pretty cute but the overall feel (and taste) is too commercial for my taste buds. Not authentic and overpriced for what you get. You should pass on this one.

    The ambiance is very nice here. After our favorite Thai Place, Coconut Thai, closed down near Tacoma Mall, we were left without a place to get a Thai Fix. After searching far and wide (ok, about 3 or 4 Thai places) we settled upon Thai Bistro. The food, while it does not "pop" sometimes as it has with some other Thai dishes I have had, is very good and consistent. Unlike other Thai restaurants, this one only operates on a four star spicy chart vs the five star. I personally find 4 stars tollerable, but it masks to much of the flavor, so I have settled on 3. Other Thai places, I'd find 4 to be the proper level. As a Bonus, this place has a few beers on Tap. I believe they have Stella and Mac n' Jack, although they may have Manny's as well, but cannot recall for sure. Try the Lemon Grass chicken, it is their signature dish.

    This was one of our favorite Thai restaurants until this last visit. We ordered two dishes for takeout. In the very first bite, my husband bit into a totally raw piece of chicken. We immediately called the restaurant and explained what had happened. We were told we could bring the food back and they would make sure it was finished cooking. Then suggested if we brought it back, they would make a new order for us. When trying to explain that the concern was that their kitchen had allowed a whole piece of raw chicken in the food, they tried to tell us it probably wasn't chicken but something else. The fact that salmonella was a concern seemed to be beyond the comprehension of the restaurant staff. After much frustration, we hung up and my husband called the Dept of Health to report, just in case he came down with Salmonella. We had to call the restaurant back and ask them to refund the cost of the dinner. They removed the charge just for one dinner and not the other. Really???? As if we even trusted the food to eat it at that point!

    I hadn't been to Federal Way in years and I was surprised by the Crossings shopping center (pleasantly.) Two co-workers and I had lunch here yesterday and I truly enjoyed the experience. The decor and ambience are lovely, the service was attentive and friendly, and the food was really really nice. Side note, I asked for no eggs in my dish and it came with but it was no big deal and I ate it anyway. As I was leaving the waitress came to the table and said she had just realized there had been egg in my dish and she brought me a whole new meal to take home. I was very surprised at her kind attention and gesture. Five stars just for her service!

    Phad Thai, Fried Rice, Curry = 4 stars Service = minus 2 stars I thought this place offered very good thai food overall. But the service was just not right. Visited there a couple of times. But on my last visit, right after my friends and I ordered our drinks, we felt that our waitress is not doing her job right. So my friend complained to the waitress (politely) and she gave us a nasty look and walked away. We were surprised by her reaction and my friend got really pissed off and followed her to the counter. I guess she was explaining the situation to her manager (she was speaking in thai? so I couldn't understand what she was talking about) but she looked pretty angry but what the hell? we can't even complain if she doesn't serve us right? my friend just yelled at her and the manager and left. So we were just leaving too. (It all happened before we ordered food.) But the manager wanted us to pay for the drinks we ordered...... which we didn't even have more than one sip..... wow... I liked this restaurant until the unfortunate incident striked me. I recommend TAKE-OUT

    I had been wanting to go in, and finally did. The interior of this restaurant is rich in color with beautiful wood. The servers are very polite and sincere. This is a great romantic atmosphere, or great for a party of (1). The server's pace of taking your order , and getting it served was acceptable. The Fresh Spring Rolls were Ok-- the bigger disappointment was the peanut sauce. I am not use to having peanut sauce that is more sweet than it is peanut, and translucent in texture/appearance. After this dish selection, I knew I couldn't get anymore disappointed. The Pad Thai was good, but I ordered it with chicken, and I found exactly 6 bites of chicken it in. The pieces of chicken that were in it were too big to be bite size. The second dish that I had ordered was a brocolli, carrot, and a few other vegtables with chicken in a garlic sauce. I could not taste the garlic, and again the vegtables in the dish were too big for just a fork or sticks, and asking for a knife just didn't seem right with this cuisine.

    Best food in Federal Way! It's fresh, it's flavorful, it's reasonable. Love the decor although in the corner booths you may need a flashlight to read the menu. They have the best brown rice I've tasted here. Love the Panang Curry and the curried squash dish. Look for coupons in your Valu-Pak and on the back of cash register receipts. The seafood and meat dishes are consistently well done and they have lots of vegetarian choices. This is our "go to" spot for lunch or dinner.

    I have been here at least 10 times now with co workers and customers. The food is always delicious and flavorful. I know that people complain about the service. Sure they're not all "HI!!! Welcome to Thai Bistro!!!!" Super flare bling bling happy but they have always been very polite and quick to get the order brought back. It is important to note that they let you pick level 1-4 on the spicy scale. I always pick a 4 and it never tastes very spicy to me but I am told that I can eat fire so if you like really spicy then ask for a 5 or 6. A 7 will have you sweating for sure.

    When my friend and I went there, we ordered lunch specials. They were alright but the thing I loved most was the decor. The booths were romantic with a little romantic flower on the table. Unlike the other yelper, our food came out relatively quickly and the staff was very nice. Our pudthai was very spicy the way I like it. Overall, It was great as in interior wise but the food could use a little push.

    The atmosphere is the best thing about Thai Bistro, the wait staff is hit and miss but usually efficient and polite, the food is slightly overpriced for quality and quantity. It is pleasant to do take out, they sit you at the bar, give you a glass of water and you can people watch or chat with the bar tender. The curry dishes lack vegetables and the vegetable dishes lack flavor, I usually mix the two if I do take out but when I head here in a group I leave disappointed, not a place I would choose to go for a great meal.

    My husband and I have been here on a handful of nights, and have gotten takeout also. We wouldn't hesitate to return. My husband is a creature of habit so always orders the Panang Curry 5-stars. Geez, it is hot! I have ordered Pad Plig Khing and Pad Kra Chai and thought they were delicious. The Thai Basil was also good, but needed more crispy basil leaves, in my opinion. I've also had the chicken Satay and the fresh spring rolls but don't remember them particularly, so they were probably average. We have always had excellent, attentive service provided with a smile, so I'm not sure what was going on the night that JP P. visited, but the tone of the review makes me think there might have been some attitude issues on the part of the diners, too, not just the waitress.

I come home once, maybe, twice a year. Every time I come back, I find it is never quite the same as the way I remember it, but I suppose life goes on even if I'm not here to witness it. A couple days ago, my little sister and I are headed out to do some last minute Christmas shopping. (Yeah I know.. way to be on the ball) I'm driving by the Crossings shopping center, which must have been built two or three years ago now, but a place I've never been in. We decide to grab lunch before hitting the mall circuit. Considering my other option is Chinese by way of Panda Express, Thai Bistro is a no-brainer's choice. After navigating the heavy snow drifts that have accumulated on the roads (Washington's inability to clean up after a snowstorm is frightening), I walk into Thai Bistro. As expected due to the nightmarish snowstorms of late, no other customers have ventured out. Good for me, I think. Service should be top notch. As for first impressions, the decor reminds me distinctly of a rendition of Cheesecake Factory goes to Thailand. Thai Bistro was very nicely decorated, but the colored light fixtures and splashes of amber / burgundy paint was highly reminiscent of the Cheesecake Factory. Don't get me wrong. I happen to like Cheesecake Factory. But, on to the food! In our lineup, Fresh Rolls, Tom Ka Gai (coconut milk soup, mushrooms, ginger, herbs, and lime), Thai Basil (stir fried vegetables, chicken, chili, and basil), and Thai Asparagus (asparagus, chili, and chicken). The fresh rolls were pleasant, and what one would expect - lettuce, cilantro, basil, and shrimp. The peanut sauce was infused with honey, which added more character than your typical peanut sauce. One of the first dishes I look for whenever I try a new Thai restaurant is the Tom Ka soup (preferably with Chicken). I've ordered some atrocious versions and I've slurped up some mind blowing concoctions. If perfect Thai food is that special nexus of spicy, sweet, savory, and sour, then a hot bowl of Tom Ka is one of the litmuses to judge the skills of a restaurant by. I am quite happy to report that the Tom Ka at Thai Bistro is one of the best I've ever had. At a level 3 (out of 4) spiciness, the Tom Ka was the perfect marriage of those four sensations, no one over-powering the other. The luscious coconut milk was so soothing with the first notes of sweet and savory marching hand in hand. The hidden backbone was, of course, the spiciness. Now I'm no wimp when it comes to heat, but there are some dishes when less is more. Tom Ka is one such dish, any more and the entire balance would have been throw off kilter. The finishing hint of sourness left a coquettish kiss on my lips that left me wanting more. Impressive. The Thai Basil and Thai Asparagus (seasonal dish) were no less appetizing. Ordered at the level 4 spiciness (after the waitress mentioned that Thai Bistro offered an off menu 5th level), both dishes were neither overly oily or salty. The vegetables had a wonderful and satisfying crunch. The chicken was moist, chunky, and succulent. I really enjoyed the peppery-ness of the basil leaves. The serving portions were quite large (especially the Tom Ka soup) and there was way too much food to quite finish all the way, though I did try my best. Service was great as well. Water was refreshed as needed and the waitress checked in often. In all, a very good experience.     Ate here on a Friday evening after work. No wait for a table. I had the Lemongrass Chicken and my husband had the red curry. I requested a one on the heat and it wasn't spicy at all. My husband requested two and it still wasn't very spicy. Next time I will request a two and he will request a three. We will see how that is. The flavor was delicious and we will be back.     I have a particular group of friends that go through the same charade every time. Someone asks, "Where should we eat?" The rest of us, "Oh, I don't know." We all pretend to think really hard. Someone: "Thai Bistro?" The rest of us: "Good idea, ok!" I kid not, we go through this charade every time, or some variation of this convo. It's one of our favorites. We've had several dishes that we enjoy. Never had anything we didn't like. From start to finish, here are some of our mainstays: Thai Iced Tea. Nice cool, creamy blend, with a little spunk Crab Rangoons. A little one note. More cream cheese than crab, but almost just a habit. Some fried, chilli chicken dish that is delectable. You'll see it on a little advertising card they give you. The spicy eggplant dish with prawns, pad see ew, and crab fried rice is so good.

    After reading all the four star reviews, I expected a great meal, and boy, what a letdown. Started with the calamari that was excellent. It was crispy without being heavy, almost like a tempura. The dipping sauce was really flavorful and the peanuts in it gave a nice balance to the overall sweetness of the sauce. After devouring the delicious appetizer our group was primed for a great meal. The food that game next however didn't even come close to AVERAGE. I ordered the Lemongrass Chicken since everyone has been raving about it. I found it resembled eating paste. It was really tasteless, and the bright yellow color screamed "eat me, I have to be delicious to be served in this color!" Swing and a miss Thai Bistro. One of the other members of my party ordered Cashew Chicken. It was much better then the "signature" Lemongrass, but still was very bland. The Sweet & Sour chicken was without question the best of the entrees. Chicken was lightly breaded and the sauce had excellent flavor. IMPORTANT NOTE: Both the Lemongrass & Cashew chicken dishes contained MASSIVE amounts of cabbage. I like cabbage and would have been fine with it, but the they weren't cut into small pieces. It was just huge chunks, not appetizing at all. I know I've been critical of the food. However, the decor is top notch and the waitress that took our order was really friendly and smiled each time she came by. It genuinely seemed like she was having a good time at work, and it showed. The two star rating is for the calamari, and Sweet & Sour chicken. I'm not sure if I'll be back, it all depends.

    What they say about people only leaving reviews after a bad experience is true in this case. This was our third time going to Thai Bistro in Federal Way. First two times we went were great. I would say 4 of 5 stars with the 1 extra star missing because prices are slightly higher than average for Thai in my opinion. The third time SUCKED and let me tell you why. Im thinking ownership or management must have changed for it to be like this. We ordered Treasure Pot and Phad See Ew beef. The Treasure Pot had a lot of cabbage in it and not a lot of seafood and noodles as was our experience in the past. The Pad See Ew was worse. The beef in the pad see ew tasted like dried up beef that was stuck too the bottom of a frying pan after they made some other dish. I would have rated the Treasure Pot a 3 of 5 stars and Phad See Ew as 1 of 5 stars... The worse is yet to come and the main reason Im writing this review. I took in a coupon that was made for this restaurant from VALPAK. It said on the coupon SHOW THIS COUPON ON YOUR PHONE FOR: 3 Dollars off dinner. I show the waitress the coupone on my phone and she says I need it printed. I say look on the coupon, it says SHOW THIS COUPON ON YOUR PHONE.... She starts raising her voice after I calmly tell her 3 times the coupon says SHOW ON YOUR PHONE. I dont want to argue with a waitress so I calmly say can I talk to the manager and she says the manager is not there. I tell her let me talk to your supervisor. The supervisor tells me they dont accept the coupon. I say, the coupon has your restaurant address and name on it. And I say why are you advertising with VAL PAK then. He says its not their coupon. I tell him thats fine.... theyve lost a customer because of three dollars. I dont know if they are under new management or not but the combination of higher than normal prices, food at or below average taste and lousy customer service I wont ever go back. Its too bad because the first two times I went, which was about 1 year ago and 6 months ago I thought service and food were better.

    Occasion: Lunch This place is nice; however, the restaurant is small. Thai Bistro is new (ie. less than one year old, etc.) I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken. The food was okay, but there is nothing special about anything here other then everything is new (ie. utensils, plates, tea cups, etc.) Since this is a small restaurant, I would recommend try sitting in the corners or against the walls, because the entrance when open or closed creates a nuisance by letting cold air in or letting sunlight in each time someone enters or leaves the restaurant.

    I love the food here, and the service is always delightful. The servers are very attentive, and the meals are always spectacular - I have yet to try a dish here that fails to impress after over a dozen visits. Price: 10 - 14 for typical entree's, or higher for specialty dishes. A little high, but worth it. Spice: Delicious, and they are willing to burn your mouth out if you request it. I like my food extra spicey, and they can get it there if you ask. Seating: The seating arrangement and lighting is the only reason I cannot give the place 5 stars. The seating is cramped if you are not in a booth, and during a busy lunch hour or dinner time you can get a lot of butts in the face as fellow visitors come and go. The corner booths are intimate, but too dark to read the menu. This should be improved to reach a 5 star rating!

    Took a client out for lunch in Federal Way last week on Monday--3 places we tried were closed!! Went for Thai and found Thai Bistro. Nestled in a large mall on 352 and Enchanted Pkwy it had reasonable parking as well as quick and friendly service. The waitresses seem to all take care of each others table--kindof different in a good way. The ambiance with the interior colors added to the experience. They were friendly and made some suggestions but we both went with the Lunch Special. Mikey went 5 star/spice but I went 3. He was ....uhhh.... sweating and loving it!! Good flavors and good portions. Also, a particular "peeve" of mine I look for--their restrooms were very clean....

    Hooray for REAL sticky rice--the kind that comes in a baggie, tucked inside a basket with a lid. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this rice and there don't seem to be many Thai restaurants that have it. Thai Bistro, which opened here in Fed Way about 2 weeks ago, does! Hallelujah! The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very nice. Large paper lanterns dangle from the ceiling, a cool Asian arbor is in the entryway, dark in that smoky Thai kinda way. I went there tonight for dinner and will definitely be returning for the above mentioned sticky rice...and looking forward to trying more of the entrees. We ordered the Prawn Rolls as an appetizer...a little "different". The fried prawns were very good, rolled up in a wonton wrapper, but there's something that I THINK was a piece of baby corn inside each roll. Baby corn and prawns...not what I would think of as a combination. It tasted fine, but was just a bit unusual. My entree was the Emerald Seafood and my companion had the Showering Rama. Both were very tasty. I'd requested two stars for level of spiciness for my dinner--it was much hotter than what I typically think of as "two stars". Otherwise, quite yummy. Pricing is comparable to other Thai restaurants. Service was good. Based on the hustle and bustle of the servers, I'd guess that these guys are still working out the kinks since they just opened. By and large, I couldn't be happier that a Thai restaurant with my beloved sticky rice has arrived here in Fed Way.

    Back in 2008, this place was the shit..5 stars all around..over the summer last year, it fell to a 3..tried it out again on sunday, and now its a .75 borderline 1.. theres no other way to explain it, it just fell off..when they first opened back in 08 i believe, their service and food were excellent..but just like some musicians and rappers, they lose their hunger for success after the first album.. First off, i always hated their seating arrangement; all up in the aisle facing all kinds of weird direction..even though i was dining with my other half, i felt like i was on a date with this elderly white man who because of the settings, we were facing directly at each other..awkward..it gets worse, do NOT turn your face while occupants are coming or leaving, because of the tight seating, their booty will be inches from your face..if you must dine here, ask for the booth and not the aisle seating!!...and also, what is up with the lighting...i dont mind dim lights all around but it was pretty damn dark ..are they trying to save money on electricity bills?.. they were literally using only natural lights that seeps through the window blinds to illuminate the place ..i would like to see what i am eating (unless they dont want us to)..also if you take a look at their photo, i think you might have an idea of what im referring to. Now, customer service from the elderly lady who was our waiter, i'd give her a 2..service was very slow and i did not appreciate her fake smiles which quickly morphed into a frown the moment i asked for a refill on my water..my plate had food particles and there were lints in my drinks which brings me to cleanliness..their freakin tables and water glasses were all covered with lints (try using lint-free cloth homie)..wtf happened bistro? new owner or something.. Overall, based on my recent experience from a organized, clean freak, meticulous, straight male, i would have to totally avoid this place and rate it a 1...i took one for the team and suffered so that other yelpers do not have too..sorry thai bistro, you gotta go...NEXT!!..*3 snaps and im out

    Good service and solid Thai food makes Thai Bistro one of my preferred lunch spots in Fed Way. The menu consists of standard thai options, but each item is well executed with good quality of ingredients. I prefer the sizzling duck and the chicken phad thai. While cetainly not the equal of some of the more authentic thai restaurants in Seattle, it's a good option for those who don't want to drive all the way north for better. Convenience, good food, good service -- pay a visit, it's worth your time.

    This is an amazing place. The décor is amazing here and the service is great. I always get the lemon grass chicken with extra rice... I love rice... The lemon grass chicken sauce is amazing. I'm not a fan of spicy foods so this dish is perfect. I have tried several of their tea options and all have been good so far. The "world peace" tea and it just made me go into a zoned faze. Definitely something to drink right before you go to bed, but still tasty none the less. The Fried banana and coconut milk ice cream is delicious! The corner booths are comfortable and very romantic if you're on a date ;) Nice private area. I've eaten here several times (if you can tell) and love it! Look for a $5 off coupon in the Val-Pak if you get one and go visit!

    Pros: Good pad thai and pud-see-eww. Deep fried banana and ice cream was to die for! Good waitress. Beautiful decorations and convenient location to Walmart, Costco, Winco, freeway and of course gas. Cons: Showering Rama lunch combo seems flavorless. Chicken wings was a bit bland and dry. Fried rice was a ok. Overall, price is decent compare to Racha's thai in Tukwill Westfield Mall. Worth trying if you are in the area.

Though i did order it to go and i know some of the presentation element would be affected by that but the taste of the food was exactly how it looked...Bland. I ordered the Pad Thai to go and the seasonal Mango and coconut special...the Pad Thai was bland and dry and the dessert looked like it had been sitting in a corner for an hour or two waiting for someone to order though i had only made the order 10 minutes before i showed up. This place prolly deserves a second chance but i'm not willing to give it...Thai place in Fife always has fresh tasting delicious Pad Thai and i only order pick up from there so i know it shouldnt be as bad as this place made it.     I love this place. Gabriel and I are regular there and always have a hard time ordering anything other than the Thai history and the pineapple fried rice because its soooo yummy.we seem to always celebrate whatever is going on at this place. I heard the pad Thai could be better. I love how nice this place it is and how friendly the staff are. They know us since we are always there and make sure to go the extra mile with us. They were both flavorful, but I wasn't satisfied with everything else about the food. The decor and service were great and I think I might try to come back to try different things.     Paid $20 for a seafood tom yum soup to go to find out that they gave me exactly 4 pieces of shitty salmon and some shrimps. Talked to the manager and received no apology or offer to fix the problem. Last night was the 1st time I had ever had dinner here - I've eaten lunch here a few times and done take-out several times. The girls and I got seated in one of the wonderful corner booths, which they thought was cool. We started with a shirley temple, rob roy and thai iced tea with tapioca (all good but tooo sweet) and fresh rolls (which were great but there was only 2 and there was no shrimp or pork in them and they were $6.95...) We then had Showering Rama with pork (Fantastic - the peanut sauce is perfect...). The Massaman Curry with Chicken (also fantastic and lots of it!), white rice and Phad Kee Mao (just ok and not very generous on the serving - was really dry when I went to eat as leftovers today). Then we shared black sticy rice with coconut milke for dessert (Excellent). Service was good but really SLOOOOW - not a good thing with a busy 4 yr old. We had a really good time and really loved most of the food. We are definitely coming here again for family dinner!

    For a Thai restaurant, this is a 5 star, no doubt. Food is excellent, service is outstanding. It's a little more expensive than other Thai restaurants, but the food quality is more than worth it. I am not a Thai fan, but I love this place. Give it a try!

    This is by far our favorite Thai place. It's definitely a drive from our house, but so worth it. We don't even consider anywhere else it is SO good! The staff pretty friendly and helpful remember us every time we come in. They always make suggestions and offer to comp the meal if we try something new and are unsatisfied. They genuinely care about their customers and want to make sure they're happy which is awesome! And the food is so good! The pad Thai is always perfectly spicy and so is the sweet and sour chicken. I definitely recommend this place.

    The food is awesome! I love that they have vegan options and make it clear on the menu, which I have never seen anywhere else. One time I ordered to go and it was only worth a 2 star rating, but it was a busy night and I have been there enough times where the service and food was worth 4 stars. Don't let the bad reviews sway you just try it!

    I love this place. The food tastes delicious and the service is always great but there is one small thing that has become a problem...I am a white female and I LOVE spicy food. I eat spicy everything, from putting hot sauce and sriracha on all of my food to throwing jalapeños and etc in all of my food. You name it, I go above and beyond to get a spicy dish. Yet for some reason whenever I order a 4 or 5 star they look at me like I'm a mad woman and ask if I'm sure I want spicy food. YES I DO! it never fails , I always receive a less spicy dish than my boyfriend (Filipino) who orders 2 star. what!? Delicious food but very stereotypical to what I can handle .

    So my family and I ended up here last night, we were actually heading to the rock, but was told it was a 25+ minute wait. My 2 year old wanted noodles, and was pulling us towards the Thai Bistro. Liking Thai food, I didn't see it as an issue although I was craving a burger! So as we entered, we were greeted immediately and told it would be a few minutes, it was pretty full so we said okay. Within 10 minutes we were seated, and then our server if you wanna call her that came by with water. She gave my 2 year old a glass goblet style cup, no lid, no straw....ugh, so we asked for a more appropriate cup, she returned with a plastic cup, lid and straw intact. We ordered drinks and again, she brought my child a huge glass and I was like, um she's 2. She gave me a look like I'm not bringing a different cup, so I was my daughters personal cup holder for the remainder of the evening. So as we sat there waiting, and waiting, and waiting, for our server to return to take our order, we noticed people around us, who were seated after us receiving their food. We still had not ordered. Finally the waitress returned and took our order. After waiting 45 minutes and me on the verge of walking out, or food arrived. And here is where the 3 stars come in, my food was delicious, a bit spicy, but delicious. My fiancé got the same thing I did and enjoyed his as well, although it was super spicy and he likes hot. My daughter enjoyed her chicken nuggets, she also ordered a side of noodles. That was a MISTAKE! What she received was a plate of goop. It was so gross, when I mentioned it to a different employee, cause who knows where my server was, they didn't care. They didn't even take it off our bill, I payed 4+ dollars for a plate of goop. When we were waiting for our check, I did over hear our server (to another table) say she doesn't work Friday nights and her manager made her come in, next time the manager should opt for a different employee, cause she was horrible! I don't know that we will be back, I'll probably stick to my Thai place on South Hill.

    Amazing food and service for a low price! I like the garden delight because it it not made with soy sauce, as I am gluten intolerant. Everything tastes great here and the waitstaff is never in a hurry to take your order. Love the ambience and flavor!

    Three words: OM NOM NOM. I stopped in a few weeks ago after my friend and I discovered we didn't have a snowball's chance of getting a seat at The Rock next door. So what do a pair of famished girls do? We trotted on over to Thai Bistro, immediately got a table, and started off with a pair of iced coffees. Now I'm used to Vietnamese iced coffee, so it was a bit different. However, the effect of the Thai version was the same: I was properly caffeinated by a strong but yummy drink. Our food came out pretty quickly, and I devoured my panang curry. Or at least I would have if they hadn't given me such a huge portion! There was no end in sight when I finally had to wave the white flag (or napkin, in this case). I love that curry, but sometimes I have to love my body more. In the end, the formerly famished females finished their fare, and flounced away into the sunset, bellies full of yumminess.

    Wow, you really feel like you've stepped out of Federal Way and walked into some place new when you get inside. The decor is cute and colorful and they have both table and booth seating - with cozy and almost hidden booths in each corner (cute seats for a date!). The food was good! Everyone at the table ordered pad thai (of course) while I veered from the group and ordered Hor-Mok (I was craving seafood). We all enjoyed our food. Four stars was the perfect amount of heat for me - had a kick, without being too overbearing. I'm glad I went out of my comfort zone and ordered the Hor-Mok because I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. It came out in a foil package, everything cooked together with curry. The service was awesome! The servers were so friendly. Definitely a good Thai option in the area.

    I was skeptical at first, not sure why. This place is great! Love the food, fried tofu app is one of my fave's! Of course good ol' Pad Thai. My boyfriend loves the yellow curry tofu with rice. I called in an order just before closing once (my bad) and they still proceeded with my order cheerfully! The only complaint would be the pricing on the apps. My boyfriend really likes the lamb skewers but you don't get much for the cost. Also, fried tofu for I think $7-9? But I still order it so I guess it's working for them! A must try place, even if you're new to Thai food and not sure. The employees are all very friendly and the place is beautiful!

    The inside was decorated nicely and the service was very good. Amazing pad see ew, maybe the best I've ever had. The one thing that keeps Thai Bistro from five stars is the portion size. It was about half of what you'd get at every other thai restaurant.

    I can honestly say this was my first experience with Thai food. I dont think I can give an accurate description of the quality given I dont have much to base my judgement on but I can say that I enjoyed the taste. I can also say the serving sizes were adequate as I left here very full. I was satisfied with my choice and would recommend this place if you were craving Thai food in the area.

    My first meal in Seattle! I came here with my roommates for lunch and we were seated right away. We ordered panang curry, pineapple fried rice, and pad see ew. For the curry, my roommate got a bowl of rice which was too little to finish the curry with. The curry was also pretty salty and heavy. The pineapple fried rice was really good! It tasted healthier than other places. Same with the pad see ew! I didn't feel my arteries clogging after I finished eating. Probably one of the best pad see ew and pineapple fried rice I've ever had. The service was great too! Our cups were always filled with water since waiters kept coming to checking up on us.

    Just found this place on Yelp and had lunch. Travel all over the west coast and this is some of the best Thai food I have had. Had the spaghetti Kee Mao. It was really good and the service was great. When back in Federal Way this will be my go to place.

    Ok. So maybe I didn't try everything on the menu here, but dang it the Tom Yum soup at Thai Bistro is one of the BEST I have ever had. If not THE BEST! And I have had a lot of different versions of this soup over the years. I went here twice during my 2 week visit up north to visit family for the holidays. Of course, that could have also been due to the fact that I caught the flu and this soup tasted like magical dancing unicorns, and was the only thing that really made me feel better while I was recovering. If I could have, I honestly would have eaten it every day. Generous portion, and lots of lemongrass, which I love! I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Hopefully won't be sick, and I will be able to taste more of the amazing flavors! My mom eats here regularly, and always has good things to say about whatever she ends up ordering.

    My favorite Thai place! Very modern decor and atmosphere. I always get beef pai kee Mao and it is fantastic! The staff is friendly! To go orders are always ready by the time you get there to pick it up. This place has never disappointed me in ten years.

    I have eaten here twice. And had different food. I am a fan of Pad Thai w/ chicken. But I don't care for Ew ?? (thick noodles w/thick sauce). But I liked the Coconut Prawns so much, I crave those. I will go back just for those. I have had two different serving styles - one being a girl who barely spoke and the other a guy who was very attentive. Who cares if the food is good, it's their tip in the end that tells them how well they did. BTW I'm going again tomorrow - and adding Chicken Satay to my meal.

    I can't say I'm the biggest fan. But I can't say I hate it either. If you want a nice place to take a date, this place is cute considering they have this nice ambience going on with color schemes and 'oriental-y' feel. On this particular review, I ordered 'to-go' and got the Phad-Tai and Tom Ka soup. Upon entering, the host seemed a bit frantic. He zipped past me and asked what I wanted. I had to yell to him, since by that time he was already across the room, "I ordered to-go!!!" In which he pointed to the counter, still from across the room, that that's where I'd find my food. I felt like I was a waitress there getting orders. Upon paying for my food he zipped past me again stating the price, and by the time I had my card out, he was across the other side of the room. When he finally came back to me he got my card without a word, then put in back on the counter with my receipt to sign and walked away. *nods.....* That was my customer service experience there........ NOW NOW!!! I don't want to downplay the place. I realize I wasn't eating in that day, so maybe I wasn't the most 'important' of customers? Maybe?....... Hm.......... .... .... ANYWHO!!! Onto the food. Phad-Tai was on the 'meh' side. I've had better at cheaper places. I was maybe five minutes late to pick up my food and already the noodles were starting to get hard. But the Tom Ka was pretty gosh darn good. I will order the soup sit-in or to-go any day no matter what the customer service may be. I'll have to try eating in on a more recent visit one of these days. I'm sure my experience will be a bit better. But for now Thai Bistro. Three stars it will have to be.

    I ate here today after a very long time away from Thai Bistro. I have to say, this is definitely some of the best Thai food around. For lunch, I ordered the Showering Rama combination, which came with soup, Pad Thai, and brown rice, along with a Thai Iced Tea. YUM! Peanuty goodness all around. I ordered two stars for the Pad Thai and thought it was just perfectly spicy. For dessert, I tried the Black Sticky Rice with Coconut Ice Cream for the first time. Amazing. We had great service today too, very friendly and attentive.

    Everything I had here was so good. I had the fried calamari and the sauce its servced with is AMAZING!! I almost ate the whole appitizer to myself. I totally forget what the dish was called I got, but it was with the thick white rice noodles with broccoli and I chose chicken, but the peanut sauce it came with was super good. I cant wait wait to come back!! The service was great.

    It is so hard to find good ethnic food in the suburbs, which is the Thai Bistro's saving grace. The food is pretty good, but kind of expensive. The decor is lovely, but pretty fancy for what you get. The service is so-so, and the music is terrible. But I love Thai food, so I can't stay away.

    The food here is great! I suggest any of there curry, and there BBQ pork is uniqe and good! I have been here several times, and each time the food has been over the top, and great service. I would recomend this to anyone who likes thai food, or if you want to try something different.

    I've been to this restaurant a handful of times over the last couple years, and each visit has been great.... until tonight! We ordered 2 dishes, one a crispy sweet-chili chicken, and an order of lemon grass chicken. The chili chicken dish arrived first, which was essentially a pile of soggy breaded chicken on a bed of raw spinach without any sauce. The chicken had good flavor, but was not crispy at all, almost like it was reheated. The spinach was simply just laying there by itself like they took it from the bag and set it on the plate. There were 2 pieces of bell pepper on the plate, no other veggies except for a couple pieces of fried basil. The lemon grass chicken showed up, they poured some sauce on top, and it looked great until we realized that the hotplate they had it one was scorching the food to the point were choking on the actual smoke emanating from the dish. The sauce, chicken, and cabbage were all black on the bottom. The smell was sickening. I did try a piece of chicken with the sauce from the top, and it was very tasty. So, I informed the server of the problem and without apologizing she takes the dish away presumably to bring us back something edible. 5 Minutes later a new dish shows up, but instead of lemongrass, it's chicken curry, sitting on bare cabbage. They then omit the additional sauce they previously poured on top, and leave us with this half-fixed dish. I've had their curry before and it's good. The point is, we ordered lemongrass! I asked to get the sauce to put on the dry cabbage, and it never came. Once the whole bill arrived, I asked to speak with a manager/supervisor, and the server advised me that they were not available? ...and then offered to take 10% off my bill. I declined and after a quick argument with the server about the state of our meal and lack of any sort of apology she took off the lemongrass off the ticket after I told her we would not pay for what they served us. So much for Thai Bistro - we will never set foot in there again.

    I've eaten here twice since they opened. The first time, I had dinner there with my son, who was gearing up to go to Thailand. The food was okay, but I've had far superior Thai food at a several other restaurants (one is a hole in the wall in a grocery shopping mall in West Seattle, the other a hole in the wall in downtown Anchorage Alaska). Service was really slow - it was a good thing we ordered an appetizer and drinks. The second time I ate here was dinner with my life partner - a discriminating palate for Thai food. She declared it 'sub prime' and with the prices, we won't be returning again very soon. There are no other good Thai restaurants in Federal Way, so if we are desperate for Thai, that may drive us there. On the plus side, their decor is great, with an unrushed atmosphere, resplendent with appetizing lighting, and dominated by a beautiful ornately carved wood arch. The booths are cozy and romantic, though ours was a little too-dimly lit to read the menu (especially since we both wear bifocals). Staff was slow on both occasions, although quite friendly.

    This is a top notch solid choice for thai food. I recommend the chicken pad thai and also chicken yellow curry - 3 stars on each. Then order one extra side of jasmine rice. These two entres are enough to feed 4 people for about $22. Thats about what it would cost 4 people to eat at mcdonalds except this is so much better. There wait staff is very friendly and make it a habit of remembering your name. Even if you have only been in a handful of times.

    so i actually went in to dine in the restaurant, i usually just pick up a to-go order....and i have to say I'm really impressed by the decor of the place its pretty fancy for a Thai place in federal way! we went Saturday night...and there weren't many people....it was very slow to get our order especially with the number of workers they had...and our food was super spicy this time. so that's not really consistent. the pad-see-uw is good so is the larb. I'll probably just stick to my to-go orders next time...

    The interior is nice - we sat in a little covered booth that was just right for the situation. The decor is appropriate for a Thai place. And the music was... American Blues? It didn't seem to add to the ambience, but hey, this is Federal Way, after all. The service was great - our waitress was real friendly and eager to ensure a pleasurable dining experience. Alas, the food fell short of our expectations. The fresh rolls were on the pricey side for not having any shrimp or meat of any kind in them, although they tasted fine. The sauce was an interesting departure from the glorified spicy peanut butter offered at many thai restaurants. I ordered the 'B' lunch which included pad thai, red curry, and rice. The pad thai was average, almost cloyingly sweet and the red curry was, at 2 stars, on the bland side. My wife's thai basi beef was good, although not as good as I've had elsewhere. Overall, Thai Bistro is a restaurant with a great Thai decor, nice staff, but falls short due to mediocre food and above average prices. With all the Thai restaurants out there, I will probably search for a better place when in the south end ( Bai Tong comes to mind, or, further south, Peanut Sauce Thai in Tacoma, or Thai Hut in Gig Harbor).

    Food was good at the time we ate it. We had the Pad Pedd and Favorite Cashew. The inside was nice, clean and good service. We had a very good experience in the actual restaurant. After returning home, we both got sick. I don't believe we will give this restaurant a second chance.

    Wow! I am surprised that this establishment has managed to stay in business. I've been eating at Chili Thai and love their food but wanted to try another Thai restaurant for variety. I ordered the appetizer sampler and Tom Ka soup. My friend ordered the Pad Prik Prince. We both eat a lot of Thai and didn't realize food could taste so terrible. Our rolls were dripping with grease. The chicken satay was so dry we couldn't finish it and the stuffed chicken smelled so bad we didn't eat it. My soup was $13 because it was supposed to be made with seafood combination. It consisted of three shrimp and two pieces of squid. There was no fish as advertised and my 3 stars had less than one star's worth of spice. My friend's meal was so greasy that she ate no more than three bites. Our server noted our lack of appetite and asked if she could bring other meals but we declined. Our check for lunch for these three dishes was $42-$50 with tip. No drinks or sides either. Probably the biggest waste of money in a long time. And to make it worse, we both got sick. I definitely do NOT recommend this spot!
